2 unusual weeks
Matt is certainly back to normal.
We do miss Mickelle and her crew around.
Glad to hear they have found a home to live in and hope all goes well on Sunday when they meet with the General who owns it!!!
No new updates on Jen and Jay. Continue to pray for them.
Brad Fite has an update posted on his page and I received a phone call from Heidi yesterday. They did surgery yesterday to clean out some of the MRSA infection that had set in. He still needs our prayers, but it is amazing to watch how the Lord works in the lives of families.
Please pray for our daughter Jessica today as she has a big performance exam today in Windsor, Canada! She has done well so far...PTL
See everyone Sunday...Lord willing!!!
Those of you with school age children...enjoy your last week before getting back to the daily grind!!!

Jen Pacc
Please pray for Jen. She possibly had a mild heart attack and is at the ER.
Our class has really been busy this week...take a few minutes to be encouraged from this devotional meant for today :-)
Revelation 1:7 says, behold he is coming with clouds..."
Oswald Chambers says... July 29
In the Bible, clouds are always associated with God. Clouds are the sorrows, sufferings, or providential circumstances, within or without our personal lives, which actually seem to contradict the sovereignty of God. Yet it is through these very clouds that the Spirit of God is teaching us how to walk by faith. If there were never any clouds in our lives, we would have no faith. "The clouds are the dust of His feet" (Nahum 1:3). They are a sign that God is there. What a revelation it is to know that sorrow, bereavement, and suffering are actually the clouds that come along with God! God cannot come near us without clouds...
He does not come in clear shining brightness.
It is not true to say that God wants to teach us something in our trials. Through every cloud He brings our way, He wants us to unlearn something. His purpose in using the cloud is to simplify our beliefs until our relationship with Him is exactly like that of a child a relationship simply between God and our own soul, and where other people are but shadows. Until other people become shadows to us, clouds and darkness will be ours every once in a while. Is our relationship with God becoming more simple than it has ever been?
There is a connection between the strange providential circumstances allowed by God and what we know of Him, and we have to learn to interpret the mysteries of life in the light of our knowledge of God. Until we can come face to face with the deepest, darkest fact of life without damaging our view of God's character, we do not yet know Him.
"...they were fearful as they entered the cloud" (Luke 9:34). Is there anyone except Jesus in your cloud? If so, it will only get darker until you get to the place where there is "no one anymore, but only Jesus..."

Mr. Minahan and Bradley Fite!!
Brad:
Update: Sunday Night
Brad went into his third surgery at midnight last night. He came out of the surgery at 7:30 a.m. The Dr. called to let us know that he handled the surgery well-still sedated, and was headed to a CAT Scan. He wanted to wait till he saw the results of the CAT Scan before he gave us more information. He then called us at 3:30 p.m. and said the CAT Scan confirmed what he thought-the spine is perfectly straight. He said it was, "An awesome CAT Scan!" No spinal fluid leaks. They are very happy. Many of these boys come through Landstuhl Medical Center and do not make it or end up paralyzed. They LOVE a happy ending. Brad will definitely be walking again-he will have some numb spots in the upper portion of his legs, but I think we can deal with that.
They brought Brad out of sedation for a bit to do a few tests. Brad told the Dr. that the pain was much better and asked what he did. Brad told him there was so much pressure before-even with all the pain medication he was on. The surgery has finally released that pressure and Brad is in much less pain. The newly built spine is locked in, stabilized, and attached to newly built tendons. He needed blood and platelets. He is being fitted for a brace in the morning (they can't cast him due to the numerous incisions that need to be cared for).
We are still waiting for the liaison to call us with arrangements for Bob to fly out and meet the plane as it arrives on American soil. When he arrives at Bethesda he will be given a briefing of what happened to the other young men with him. He's been fighting a physical battle this week, and will continue to do so, but this week's battle will be an emotional one. Please keep him in your prayers.
Thank you so much.
Bob and Valerie
Matt:
He has a 3mm stone to pass and a 5 mm one waiting in the wings!
If he does not pass the 3 in a couple of days, they will surgically remove it and get the big one at the same time.(not lithotripsy)
If he does pass it, they will do the lithotrypsy thing on the big one.
We cannot lose control of his pain or he will end up right back in the ER! Learned that this evening!!!
Thanks for praying for him! Please pray that he will pass this stone soon with minimal pain!!!!

Responses
Tip of the "day, week, hour...whatever :-)"
God orders every event of our life down to the trivial traffic jam that makes us late because we timed it to the last second. HE KNOWS!!
He is all about our responses to life's situations. Our best witnessing opportunities can sometimes come when unbelievers see that our responses to circumstances come from a complete trust in a God who orders and ordains every bit of our lives. Nothing takes God by surprise.
He allows ALL in order to work out His purposes in our lives.
Accept your portion today and respond in a godly way!

June 4...tip...
"...Tolerating a wrong attitude toward another person causes you to follow the spirit of the devil, no matter how saintly you are. One carnal judgment of another person only serves the purposes of hell in you. Bring it immediately into the light and confess...If you don't, your heart will become hardened through and through. One of the penalties of sin is our acceptance of it. It is not only God who punishes for sin, but sin establishes itself in the sinner and takes its toll...No power, except the power that comes from being filled with the Holy spirit, can change or prevent the inherent consequences of sin." Oswald Chambers
"If we walk in the light as He is in the light, we have fellowshiip one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his son cleanseth us from all sin!" I John 1:7
Wow! How important it is to walk in the light of the Word of God, keeping our sin confessed.
Ever wonder why certain people don't get along??? Do we see them as God's child growing...or do we JUDGE and not see our judgment of them as sin! God forbid!

Tip of the Day
It has been recommended that I post a "Tip of the Day" for those of you who find the time to follow the blog...
Tip of the Day: Memorize the verse for the week.I John 1:1
Find memory tricks to help and then say it over and over in your head as you go about your work. Driving is a great time to practice.
(Stop to free up some mental space for prayer, too)
This week at Northside we are reviewing Psalm 27. If you have the Psalm down, it is a good opportunity to get a little ahead on I John 1:1.
As you practice I John 1:1, I have noticed some helpful hints:
There are 4 "which."
The first "which" is a part of the intro of the verse.
The other 3 precede the letters h for heard, e for seen with our eyes, l for looked at and hands have handled. It almost spells the word help which is what the "Word of Life" is for us all the time.
The rest of the chapter will go more easily if you remember that it is all about the Lord Jesus Christ and what He is for us...our eternal life, our common bond of fellowship one with another, and God with us.
I also recommend that you look over the "homework" for the new Bible Study starting on Sunday. The questions will help prepare for a great study of the book of I John.
Words cannot explain the blessing that comes from attempting to memorize God's Word. It is truly peace to the soul and strength in times of temptation!
Have a blessed weekend!
